Join us on Wednesday May 27th for a book club led by local author Lucy Black. We will be discussing the book "Encampment" written by Toronto author and Anglican Priest Maggie Helwig. Maggie and her church community were very involved with an encampment of unhoused people during the pandemic and she recounts the story in this provocative book.
We have also invited the Social Justice coordinator for the Diocese of Toronto, Elin Goulden, to speak to us about housing issues in Durham and Scugog and to help us all think about the ways we - everyday citizens - can be involved in helping our neighbours find sustainable and affordable housing.
Everyone is welcome and we encourage you to bring a friend and neighbour along.
Books are available through most booksellers.
