Red Dress Day is a day in which we, as Canadians, remember the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Two-Spirited People.
Indigenous women make up 5% of the Canadian population, but 24% of female homicides in Canada. Gender-based and racialized violence is still a very real problem in our society. On Tuesday May 5th, consider wearing something red or hanging a red dress in your front yard or on your door. It is a small thing, but it demonstrates that you and I took a moment to remember and to be changed by that remembering on behalf of those who still suffer and are vulnerable.

Note: There isn't an event today at Purple Woods as we had thought - that information was from a prior year.
