On National Indigenous Peoples Day 2021 at noon, Mayor Drew and members of Scugog Council with Chief LaRocca of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nations dedicated a Land Acknowledgement that will be permanently installed at the front of the Township of Scugog Municipal Office. Church bells rang, followed by a moment of silence to honour all of the children and their families who suffered due to the residential school system.
