The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit always be with you. And also with you.

Penitential Kyrie

Lord, you promise a place in paradise to all who call toy in penitence and faith.  Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

Lord, you bring comfort to those who mourn and have suffered loss.  Christ, have mercy.  Christ, have mercy.

Lord, you speak your word of peace in times of conflict and calm our fears.  Lord, have mercy.  Lord, have mercy.

Lord of all nations, Saviour and judge of all: remove from human hearts all bitterness and hate, grant to those who have died in war your mercy and forgiveness and bring us all to the peace of your eternal Kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

2 Samuel 1:4-20; 1 Samuel 2:1-10; Mark 13:1-8

Homily - The Reverend Canon Ruthanne Ward

Hear, O Israel

Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.

This is the first and the great commandment.

The second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.

There is no commandment greater than these.

Prayers of the People

The Peace

The peace of the Lord be always with you.  And also with you.

Offertory Hymn:  CP #528 - O God, Our Help in Ages Past

Prayer Over the Gifts

Holy God, in this eucharist we renew our baptismal covenant.  Help us, through our offering this day, to renounce all things that draw us from your love and the ways of peace in this world.  This we ask in the name Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Eucharistic Prayer for Ordinary Time (from the Church of England)

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.  It is right to give thanks and praise.

Blessed are you, Lord God, …

… that with angels and archangels and all the powers of heaven we may find a voice to sing your praise:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

How wonderful the work of your hands, O Lord….

Great is the mystery of faith: Christ has died: Christ is risen: Christ will come again.

Pour out your Holy Spirit ….Blessing and honour and glory and power be yours for ever and ever. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread

We break this bread to share in the body of Christ

Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.

The Agnus Dei

Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, grant us peace.

Communion Hymn:  CP #400 - What Wondrous Love Is This

Prayer After Communion

God of peace and healing, the holy food of this table strengthens and sustains us.  May we go from this meal ready to lay pathways of peace and hope.  We pray in the name of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

The Doxology

Glory to God, whose power working in us can do more than we can ask or imagine.  Glory to God from generation to generation, in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever.  Amen.

The Blessing
