The Gathering of the Community

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

And also with you.

Almighty God,

to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Gathering Prayer Almighty God, you have taught s through your Son that love fulfils the law. May we love you with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength, and may we love our neighbour as ourselves; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

The Sermon

a moment of silence is observed after the sermon

Affirmation of Faith

Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is One and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. This the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it: you shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Confession & Absolution

Let us make our confession to God, knowing that we are children of God held in love and forgiveness.

Silence is kept.

We confess to you, our Lord and God, that we have failed to follow in the ways of Christ. We have not loved as we ought, we have said what should have been left unspoken, and have failed to act when called upon. Forgive us, renew us and heal us that we might serve you in love and peace.

Absolution is given.

The Great Thanksgiving

(From: With One Voice, Lutheran Prayer, Eucharistic Prayer G)

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is indeed right and good that we should at all times and in all places offer our hearts of gratitude to you, our God and Creator, .… And so, with the Church on earth and the hosts in heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

Holy, holy, holy, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Holy God, our Maker, Redeemer, and Healer, in the harmonious world of your creation the plants and animals, the lakes and stars were whole and well in your praise….

In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread…

Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, …

Remembering therefore,

His acts of healing, his body given up, and his victory over death,

We await that day when all the peoples of the earth will come to the river to enjoy the tree of life…..

Through him all glory and honour are yours,

Almighty Father, with the Holy Spirit, in your holy Church, both now and forever. Amen.

Thanksgiving (From: With One Voice, Lutheran Prayer, Eucharistic Prayer G) The Lord be with you. And also with you.

The Lord’s Prayer

As our Saviour taught us, let us pray,

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.

Breaking of the Bread

We break this bread to share in the body of Christ.

We, being many, are one body, for we all share in the one bread.

The gifts of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.
